Direct Billing for Counselling in Nanaimo

Many extended health plans provide coverage for counselling with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Where plans allow it, I offer direct billing for a limited number of insurance providers.

This means claims may be processed on your behalf when your plan allows it.

I currently direct bill to Pacific Blue Cross and to publicly funded programs including FNHA, Nuu-chah-nulth, and ICBC.

Changes to Direct Billing

For most clients, submitting receipts directly to insurers is straightforward, with reimbursement typically processed quickly through electronic systems.

Beginning March 1, 2026, billing will transition to client-submitted receipts through JaneApp. Clients will pay at the time of the session and submit receipts directly to their insurer.

This change allows administrative focus to remain centred on the therapeutic work rather than on billing processes.

Direct billing will continue only for ICBC, FNHA, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Indigenous agency–funded referrals, where this process supports access to care.

If concerns about billing feel like a barrier to beginning therapy, you’re welcome to contact me so we can clarify what to expect before booking.

During the Transition

If your plan allows direct billing, claims will continue to be submitted on your behalf during this transition period.

Any remaining balance (co-pay or portion not covered) will be charged to your card on file.

As part of this transition, I am no longer submitting claims through TELUS eHealth on clients’ behalf.

Receipts will continue to be provided for your records.

Submitting Receipts After the Transition

Clients will pay at the time of the session and submit receipts directly to their insurer.
